For over 20 years, I thrived in the fast-paced world of business. Yet, a deep curiosity about human behavior and a burning passion for personal growth led me down a new path – Integrative Health Coaching. I enrolled in the University of Portland's NBHWC-approved program, eager to empower others to achieve lasting well-being.
My fascination lies in the power of habits. They silently shape who we are, influencing our health, happiness, and sense of fulfillment. But what if the habits we form are driven by fleeting desires, not true needs?
Walk into my home, and you'll see a testament to my journey: Stacks of wellness and self-help books line my shelves – a constant source of inspiration. My kitchen boasts colorful mason jars filled with loose leaf teas, whispering promises of relaxation. Plant-based cookbooks sit proudly on the counter, each page a potential path to vibrant health. Even gym memberships and Tai Chi classes find their way into my budget – a tangible desire to prioritize well-being.
But here's what you wouldn't see: You wouldn't see the initial burst of enthusiasm followed by the slow fade into old habits. You wouldn't see the disconnect between desire and action, again and again.
My frustration turned passion: This constant source of frustration, and disappointment, propelled me to get deep into the world of sustained behavior change. As it turns out, I didn't need to buy another cookbook or sign up for another fitness membership to reach my health and wellness goals. What I needed were sustained habits. My passion quickly became learning and applying evidence-based approaches to lasting behavior change.
